EV Roadtrip to Chicago

I recently completed an electric vehicle road trip from Rochester, Minnesota to Wisconsin Dells and Chicago. I wanted a challenge to see if it could be done. Here are the roundtrip stats…

  • 12 hours driving
  • 15 hours charging
  • 8 hours waiting for charging to complete (not including the 7 hours at the hotel destinations)
  • 2 cents paid for electricity at public chargers
  • 0 emissions
  • $0 for gas and $60 in gas savings

It might have taken an extra 3 hours each way than a regular gas vehicle, but we ended up enjoying the journey more. We stayed at places longer to visit local spots along the way while waiting for charging to complete. Range anxiety was almost nonexistent. I would definitely do this again.
